EXPERIENCED

LEADERSHIP

A common sense leader focused on  relationships, collaboration, accountability
and good local government.

Wendy Mackustis EDs 2-7065.jpg

Smart management of municipal finances and clarity about where your dollars go will remain a priority for Wendy. We continue to maintain a AAA bond rating, highlighting strong financial management in town. Our budget came in below COLA and was unanimously approved by three boards and the public.

We will continue working to ensure Simsbury delivers the best value for education, safety, recreation and town services, while securing our natural resources.

Simsbury's economic growth will enable us to expand our tax base, in an effort to keep taxes in check. Wendy is using common sense to keep our community a welcoming and affordable place where young families can start out, seniors can stay, and businesses want to invest. A vision for our town that includes affordability is key.

Public safety is an investment in a healthy Simsbury. Wendy has driven policy and funding to our engaged community police department, providing resources to keep our streets safe for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, social services for those at risk, and programs so seniors can age safely in place. We received recognition for our CALEA certification and have invested in our records area. New crosswalks, sidewalks, and parking are happening all around us.

Our excellent schools and town facilities enhance the value of our homes. Wendy will work to ensure responsible investments in infrastructure for our students, teachers, staff, and residents. With Latimer Lane completed, Wendy has supported Board of Education initiatives and partnered on the Pathways program for Special Ed to help reduce costs and keep our students in town.

Our parks, trails, open spaces, and waterways are natural resources that make Simsbury special. The Tariffville Pickleball Courts are now open, with more work planned for Tariffville Park. We appreciate the value of our multi-use trails, along with improvements to parks, playgrounds, the public golf course, and local landmarks for everyone's enjoyment.
